Gdansk, Poland Shipyard

The waterfront plan for this historic waterfront is strategic and flexible.  Many of the remarkable existing buildings are revitalized and integrated into the plan. Emphasis is placed on the network of streets, paths, promenades and public spaces that tie the city together. The design strategy is one that responds to the unique urban context that surrounds the shipyard area. Provision is made for the integration of public transportation through the new district.

Understanding the urban structure of the city was essential in creating a new plan for the waterfront district. With the vision plan as a basis for discussion with stakeholders it allowed the land use concept to evolve with minimal compromises. Working with local professionals in a unified and well informed team was the  key to producing the successful plan that became the basis for private and public investments.
